Ensure you have the best performing and safest brakes from the moment they roll out the door.

Let's face it: brand new brake pads, especially sintered ones, can feel a bit... underwhelming. They lack that immediate, confident bite you crave, and that's because they need to be properly bedded-in. This process involves creating an even transfer layer of brake pad material onto the rotor, ensuring optimal friction and performance. Traditionally, this meant a series of controlled stops, which could be time-consuming and inconsistent. But now, there's a game-changer: the Sinter Brake Pad Bedding-In Machine.

As cyclists, we know that reliable brakes are paramount, whether you're tackling a steep descent, navigating city traffic, or pushing your limits on the track. And when it comes to performance, sintered brake pads offer exceptional stopping power. However, to truly unlock their potential, they need to be properly bedded-in. That's where a dedicated brake pad bedding-in machine comes into play, offering a significant advantage over traditional road bedding for cyclists.

Why Bedding-In Matters

Just like with motorcycles, new sintered brake pads on a bicycle need a proper break-in period. This process creates a uniform layer of brake pad material on the rotor, maximizing friction and ensuring consistent performance. Traditionally, cyclists would perform a series of controlled stops, which can be inconsistent and time-consuming, especially in urban environments.

A bedding-in machine offers a controlled and efficient way to prepare your brakes, delivering numerous benefits tailored to the cyclist's needs:

  • Consistent Braking Performance: Imagine hitting a technical descent with perfectly bedded brakes. The machine ensures a uniform transfer layer, providing consistent stopping power and modulation from the first ride. This is crucial for safety and confidence, especially in challenging conditions.

  • Faster Bedding-In: Time is precious, whether you're a commuter or a competitive cyclist. The machine significantly reduces bedding-in time compared to road bedding, allowing you to get back to riding sooner.

  • Eliminating Glazing Risk: Improper bedding can lead to glazed brake pads, which feel slick and ineffective. The machine's controlled process minimizes this risk, ensuring your brakes perform optimally.

  • Extended Rotor Life: A properly bedded pad wears evenly on the rotor, potentially extending its lifespan and saving you money.

  • Safety in Any Condition: Consistent braking is essential for safety, especially in wet or unpredictable conditions. A bedding-in machine provides the confidence you need to tackle any ride.

  • Reduced Risk of Rotor Warping: Cyclists who do extreme downhills are more susceptible to rotor warping. The consistent heat that the machine produces reduces this chance.

  • Perfect for E-Bikes: E-bikes put increased stress on braking systems. A bedding-in machine ensures that your brakes are ready for the extra power and weight.

  • Ideal for Disc Brake Upgrades: If you've just upgraded to new disc brakes, especially sintered pads, a bedding-in machine guarantees optimal performance from the start.

This service is available to anyone. You don't need to have purchased your brake pads from us. It is however an additional service that is not included in our typical Basic / Master / Premium service options.

This service is available for only £10 per bike & can be performed while you wait.
